Cero Blackburn, 99, of Pikeville, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Floyd County, July 2, 1913, the son of the late Roscoe Blackburn and Della Bush Blackburn.

He was a field operator for Kentucky/West Virginia Gas Company and was a member of Freedom Bible Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, German Blackburn, Clifford Blackburn and Herman Blackburn.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Blackburn; six children, Gene (Carol) Blackburn of Young Harris, Ga., Linda Emmalene (Burton) Howard, Cliff Blackburn, Larry (Judy) Blackburn, Davie (Shelia) Blackburn and Marlene (Fonso) Scott, all of Pikeville; one sister, Julia Foley of Pikeville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his special caregivers, Pauletta Dale and Katie Gross.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in the Freedom Bible Church with Terry Gibson, Darrell Combs and Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackburn Cemetery, Missouri Branch. Arrangements are under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
