Mr. Lee was born on August 10, 1912, in Clay County, the son of Chester and Addie (Pettijohn) Lee. He married Cynthia Hahn Stocker on June 29, 1940. She survives.
He lived in West Salem for 43 years before moving to Lawrenceville, where he lived for six years. He was a school teacher in agriculture and sixth grade. He was Supervisor of Assessments for Edwards County, a banker and insurance agent. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem and United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion in West Salem and Masons.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hahn Lee, of Lawrenceville; two sons, Richard Lee, of Champaign, and David Lee, of Robinson; a daughter, Betsy McCarthy, of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Claribel Benson, of Olney, and Louise Bear, of Findlay, Ohio; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Lee.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church in West Salem or Good Samaritan Hospice.
