Chester Lee of 1101 E. Main St., Olney, passed away early this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Lee was born January 22, 1889 in Clay County, a son of Richard and Belle (Blackledge) Lee.

He was first married to Addie Pettijohn, who preceded him in death. He was later united in marriage with Ola Hossel, who survives him.

He moved from Clay County to Olney, where he served four terms as Richland County Circuit Clerk, and headed the ticket in each election. In his first election he won by a 1600 vote majority, and he won his last election by a 2700 vote majority. Before being elected Circuit Clerk he served two years as Richland County Deputy Sheriff.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife, Ola; two sons, Ronald of Worthington, Ind., and Robert of West Salem; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Claribel) Benson of Olney and Mrs. Homer (Louise) Bean of Findley, Ohio; a brother, Jimmy Lee of Mattoon; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Herdes of Clay City. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Zirkle Mortuary. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
