The many friends of Mrs. E. S. Post will be pained to learn that a telegram was received announcing the death of her mother, Mrs. Anna Horne Chappell, at her old home, New Berlin, N. Y., whither she had gone, hoping to benefit her health. It was not to be. After a long severe illness, of consumption, she who had so long fought the battles of life and endured its burdens, July 30th closed her eyes and bade farewell to all the scenes of earth, and the blessed spirit passed quietly, peacefully to the "rest" that "remaineth;" the commissioned angel touched her, and falling into a beautiful, tranquil sleep, she passed the portals opening to a higher life. Our home is saddened and lonely. Always here, always ready, always willing to share in privations or prosperity, cheerful, trying to lighten the burdens of others, was her life; self was nothing, only as she lived to do others good. Her life was one long preparation. She was ready and waiting the Master's call at any time. All loved her, from the infant to the aged. What a memory and example she has left. But, oh! the lonely, aching hearts of her friends and children, whose loving and tender care were some return for her own ministry to them long ago. She was buried from St. Andrew's church, New Berlin, of which she was a loved member for many years. The large attendance and the many beautiful floral offerings by friends, bespoke the esteem in which she was held.
Mrs. Chappell was the mother of Mrs. N. L. Allen and Mrs. Frank McElfresh, of Washington, D.C.
