Miss Gertrude was the daughter of Paul and Julia Wejer Brzezinski, natives of Wisconsin. Her mother died when she was 13, and her father remarried shortly thereafter. Gertrude had two siblings, her new blended family would include two more.
Gertrude decided to leave the small city of Winona, and in 1920 she was single (as she would remain), living in Rochester, MN and working as a registered nurse in a hospital.
In 1930 Gertrude was living in the Olmsted County Jail as a roomer with the Sheriff's family. She was still working as a nurse.
Like her sister Florence, Gertrude would never marry, and lived a long life, passing away at the age of 94.
Gertrude and Florence dropped the first "z" in the spelling of their last names--Brzezinski.
