John Dundas is presumed buried here with his wife and daughter, but the inscriptions on the obelisk which stands on the plot are illegible. Based on research by Wesley E. Pippenger in "Tombstone Inscriptions of Alexandria, Virginia," volume 1, Agnes Dundas, wife of John Dundas, was the owner of this section of the cemetery. The September 1, 1813 issue of the "Alexandria Gazette," reported that John Dundas died of dropsy on August 29, 1813, aged 54 years. The Rev. John Muir of the First Presbyterian Church recorded the date of his funeral as September 1, 1813. Pippenger also cites Alexandria Wills, book 1, page 239, which mentions his daughters Nancy Moore Keene and Sophia Matilda Peyton and his father-in-law William Hepburn.
