Zula Louise who went by Louise was the last of 9 children of Zula Matilda Jane Muse and Robert Morris Paty Sr. She was four years younger than her sister Sadie and about 19 years younger than her oldest sister Leona. Unlike her siblings she did not attend public school but attended the Webb Preparatory School in Bell Buckle. After graduation she furthered her education attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee where she graduated with a Nursing degree. She was also known as person who served her church and her Community, see her obituary.   While attending Vanderbilt University nursing school Louise must have met Dr. Edward Barksdale who was an assistant in pathology at Vanderbilt University. He was born in Missouri and was the son of Edward A. Barksdale and Lenora H. Barksdale (cousin married to cousin). He was a graduate of Washington Medical School in Saint Louis, Missouri. Louise's engagement and wedding to Dr. Edward Barksdale was announced in April 1932 in several papers but the one we used was published in Elizabethton Township her older brother John Collin Paty lived in which was some two hundred thirty-eight miles from Bell Buckle as the crow flies. She was the mother of three children, Marian Jane Barksdale, Edward Hamilton Barksdale Jr. and Robin Paty Barksdale. When Louise and husband Edward passed they donated their bodies to the Vanderbilt University Medical School in the name of Science.
