Bernice Monesson, 85, of Lakewood, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her home. She was born in Brooklyn and moved to Howell as a young girl. She graduated from Lakewood High School and since 1947 made her home in Lakewood. She was a homemaker and also worked for Macy's and Stern's. Bernice was a past member of Congregation Sons of Israel, Lakewood and active in its sisterhood for many years.

Bernice the only child was predeceased by her parents, Ethel Ailetcher and Nathan Goodstein; her Aunt Gertrude Ailetcher; and her husband of 61 years, Bernard. She is survived by her sons, Mark Monesson and his wife, Madli of Toms River, Joel Monesson and his wife, Debi of Brick, and Larry Monesson and his wife, Barbara of Bellvue, CO; and her daughter, Gail and her wife, Toni Unwin of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Shoham Monesson, Joshua Monesson, Amanda Migden, Zahranna Monesson-Licwinko, and Alexandra Monesson-Olson; 3 great-grandsons, Max Monesson, Wyatt Licwinko, and Odin Monesson-Olson; a brother-in-law, Morris Monesson, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Holocaust Memorial Chapel, 613 Ramsey St., Lakewood. Interment will follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Lakewood. Donations in Bernice's honor can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Fl., New York, NY 10001. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood.
