Joel Childers, 72, of Foley, Ala., died Friday, July 15, 2005.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1932, in Kentucky, to Laura and Clint Childers.
He was a concrete contractor in the Foley area for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Deaton; and three brothers, Ishmael, Marvin and Hurley Childers.
Survivors include his wife, Carmaletta Childers; four sons, Ronnie Childers (and wife, Paula) and Jimmy Childers (Jackie), all of Foley, Ala., and Chuck Childers and Gary Childers, both of Clovis; three daughters, Janey Roberts (Jay) of Lubbock, and Sherry Crafts (Don) and Tiffany Williams, all of Foley, Ala.; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Dorothy Brashears, Margaret Childers, Carol Ann Rhodes, and Betty Marie Watkins.
Visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m. (CDT) Monday at Vernant Park Baptist Church in Foley, Ala.
Burial will be at Vernant Park Baptist Cemetery in Foley, Ala.
