Mrs. Garlene Disher Evans, age 76, of King, passed away Wednesday evening, October 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Evans was born in Forsyth County, August 3, 1933 to the late Elbert Larkin and late Cynthia Rebecca Snow Disher. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and retired from RJR Tobacco Company. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her former husband, Clarence Gilley; one son, James Larkin Gilley; one step-son, Bryon Evans; and a sister, Mozelle Collins. Surviving is her husband of 13 years: Marshall Ray Evans of the home; two daughters, Rebecca (Jonathan) Lawson of King and Cindy (Jeff) Bost of Concord; two step-sons, Ray (Darlene) Evans and Joe (Teresa) Evans; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Katie) Lawson and Phillip Lawson, and William, Andrew, and Elizabeth Bost; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Disher of Supply, NC; and one sister, Blanche Ratliff of Winston-Salem. Funeral Services will be conducted this afternoon, Saturday, October 24, at 2 p.m., at Gospel Light Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
