Funeral services for Elaine V. Schulz, 85, of Madison will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Battle Creek: Reverend Richard Snow will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Battle Creek. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements,

Elaine died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services.

Elaine Vera Ernestina Eucker Schulz daughter of Arthur Ernest August Eucker and Bertha Frieda (Zessin) Eucker, was born February 23, 1928. She was baptized as a child of God on April 1, 1928 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lindsay and confirmed her faith on April 6, 1941 attended Green Garden Lutheran School and graduated from Madison High School.

She married Arnold Allan Schulz September 3, 1946 in Marysville Kansas. Lived on the farm in Fairview Township south of Battle Creek that was homesteaded in the family in 1888 over 123 years ago. Elaine had a great love for her family as she raised six children while working the farm with Arnold.

She loved crocheting, scrapbooking, collecting handkerchiefs, photography cooking, baking and sharing recipes. Elaine shared her love and skill of crafts with various organizations. She was a 4-H club leader, a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and entered into the open class at the Madison County Fair for most of her life.

Elaine is survived by her husband Arnold of 66 years. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this September. Her children and spouses, Leslie Schulz and Merryellen of Omaha, Larry Schulz and Teena of Denver, James Schulz and Connie of Norfolk, Jerry Schulz and Bonnie of Battle Creek, daughters Jeanne Higgins of Kansas City and Joni Smith and Brian of Carroll, Nebraska.

Twelve grandchildren, Krista Perleberg and Andrew, Heather Shockey and Greg, Lindsey Schulz, Brendan Schulz, Jared Schulz and Aspin, Alyssa Tinker and Cameron, Tracee Larson and Raymond, Zach Schulz, Molly Zimmerman and Ryan, Brianna Smith, Matthew Higgins and Jakob Higgins, thirteen great grandchildren and three sisters Donna Mae Frank of Florida, Violet Droescher of Norfolk, Betty Bauchman of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Bertha Eucker, brothers DuWayne Eucker, Elder Eucker, Norman Eucker, one grandchild Baylee A. Smith and one great grandchild Raymond J. Larson.
