He was the son of Dr. Joseph Wolfe and Tennessee Clemons.

Mr. Joseph R. Wolfe,68 died at his apartment at the residence of Mrs. B. S. Lewis, Friday morning, after only a few days of illness.

He had been indisposed for two weeks and Friday a week ago suffered a paralytic stroke which proved fatal a week later.

Mr. Wolfe, a retired telephone construction foreman, had lived here about four years and during that time had made many warm friends who grieve his going. He had been engaged with the Gainesboro Telephone Co., and when that company was merged with the Southern Continental Telephone Company he continued his employment with that company until four years ago, when on account of age and long faithful service was retired with compensation. He is located here where he had formerly lived several years ago.

Mr. Wolfe, known to his younger friends as Uncle Joe was one of the best telephone construction men in Kentucky or Tennessee. Monuments of his ability are the lines of these companies standing today that were constructed years ago.

Being a man of honor he would no more construct a shoddy line than he would take something that didn't belong to him.

He was interested in the better things of life and all his life had been along that line. He was a Bible student, far above average, and has been noted for some time as the greatest Bible student in Glasgow which also carried the credit of being the best posted on the Scriptures.

He was a pioneer in the two named companies for thirty-four years and in that time he worked over a large scope of the country and came in contact with a great many people. His influence, always for the good is the heritage of his family and those with whom he came in contact.

Mr. Wolfe is survived by his wife, Suda Belle(Susan) James Wolfe one daughter, and three sons. Mrs William (Lorene) Adwell of Sierre Madre, CA, Albert Wolfe of Santa Paula, CA, John Wolfe of Tustin, CA, and Robert Wolfe of Louisville, KY

After services at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev, W. S. Bolles, burial was at Sonora Cemetery in Sonora, KY

Joe and his wife Susan had one more daughter named Margaret
(Maggie) Wolfe was born July 22, 1896, and died August 22, 1896, in Chestnut Mound, Tn. So far we have been unable to locate her grave.
