Charles Rodrigues, 77, of Mattapoisett died June 14, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Lorraine (Vasconcelles) Rodrigues.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Georgiana (Costa) Rodrigues, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Mattapoisett in 1969.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.

Mr. Rodrigues was a magazine cartoonist for Stereo Review and National Lampoon magazines, and was a syndicated cartoonist with the Chicago Tribune. He was the creator of "Charlie" for over 20 years.

Mr. Rodrigues served in the U.S. Navy during World War II

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Judith Robertson, and her husband Craig, of McKinney, TX, and Ann Bowen, and her husband Timothy, of Medfield; 3 sisters, Doris Gomes of Acushnet, Jeannette Audette of South Dartmouth, and Barbara Conley of Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Madeline Bowen and Connor Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Manuel Vieira.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Saturday, June 19th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Friday, June 18th from 5-8 PM.

Interment St. Anthony's Cemetery, Mattapoisett.
