Mary Gwara Szlachetka, 96, died on Tuesday, (August 16, 2005). She was the best Mother, Babci, Ciocia and Friend in the whole world and will be missed very, very much. We all love you and miss you. She was born in Montague, MA. Lived in Poland from 1911 to 1929 and moved to Massachusetts and then Connecticut in 1955. She was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church and a member of the Ladies Guild and Rosary Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter and her infant son, Peter and six brothers, Adam, Czeslaw, Stephan, Wladek, Jozef, Olesz and a sister, Helen Koziatek. She leaves behind her son, Stanley Szlachetka of Wethersfield and his family, daughters, Mary Crowley and her husband Tom of Enfield; Stella Kowalczyk of Dedham, MA and her husband Stanley; Alice Zajaczkowski of Enfield and her predeceased husband Walter, Diane Szlachetka and Susan Fagan of Wethersfield. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Tim, Mike, Tommy, Theresa, Pauline, Barbara, Carol, Rich, Steve, Walt, Mark, Chris, Michelle, Michael and all of their respective families. Also her great grandchildren, Derek, Sarah, Hanna, Helen, Jennifer, Christopher, Richard, Lisa, Meghan, Amanda, Jeanna, and Cara. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews here and in Poland. She also leaves behind her special friend and roommate of four years of Ellis Manor Nursing Home, Addassa Risden as well as all of her extended family - the Staff at Ellis Manor, who loved and cared for her as if she belonged to each and every one of them. The Family expresses their extreme gratitude. She retired from Nielson Tool & Die Co. where she worked for many years. Funeral services will start Saturday, at 9:15 a.m. from the Talarski Maple Hill Chapels, 380 Maple Ave., Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours at the Chapels will be TODAY from 6-8 p.m.
