OBITUARY :
LOIS I. (RISSER) HORST, 93, of Long Ridge Drive, Hagerstown, died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in her home.
Born Sept. 5, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Adin and Ida (Meyers) Risser. Her husband, Phares S. Horst, died March 28, 1989.
Lois was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Olive Mennonite Church near Maugansville.
Surviving family include two daughters, Ellen M. Horst at home, and Cora L. Plank and husband, Eli, of Arthur, Ill.; three sons, Donald A. Horst and wife, Lois, of Hagerstown, Harold R. Horst and wife, Ella, of Greencastle, Pa., and Leon R. Horst, at home; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Horst and husband, Edgar, of Maugansville, Md.; and one brother, Benjamin Risser and wife, Barbara, of Harrisonburg, Va.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Lester Horst; one great-grandson; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Olive Mennonite Church near Maugansville, with the church's ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. There also will be a viewing one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
The family requests the omission of flowers, and memorial contributions may be given to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
