Temple Gwathmey was one of the children born to Owen Gwathmey, Jr. and his wife Ann Rogers Clark. Temple lived the majority of his life in Louisville, Kentucky working as a farmer.

Temple was united in marriage June 16, 1803 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to Ann (Nancy) Meriwether Marks. Temple and Ann were blessed with the birth of at least six children during their marriage:

Temple became a widower in 1819 when his beloved Ann passed away. He passed away at the young age of 79 in Evansville, Indiana according to his SAR.
