Sylvester "Woody" Woods, 77, of the Hornack hotel, died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday in Mercy hospital, Benton, Harbor, where he bad been a patient since Tuesday.

Mr. Woods was born Mar. 2, 1888 in Princeton IN: He married the former Hester Anna Fair, Oct. 17, 1908, in Princeton. They moved in Valley City Ill, and lived there for four years before coming to Benton Harbor in 1917. He was employed by the F.P. Rosback Co. from 1927 until he retired in 1954.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Miles (Violet) Crow and Mrs. Carl (Lenore) Layman of Benton Harbor and Mrs. Raymond (Alta) Burtzloff of Stevensville; one son, James of Benton Harbor; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Woods preceded him in death on July 16, 1953. Funeral services are scheduled to be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Florin funeral home. The Rev. Roy Christie, pastor of the New Apostolic church, of which Mr. Woods was a member, will officiate. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs..
