Deceased Name: Sara Nell Shelton, 87, of Reform
Sara Nell Shelton, 87, of Reform, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at the Salem Nursing Home in Reform.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with burial at Arbor Springs in Pickens County. Ralph Smith and Chris Hunnicutt will officiate. Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport will direct. Visitation will be Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.
Sara Nell was born July 14, 1922, in Reform, Ala. A lifelong native of Pickens County, she was a retired seamstress. She was also a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. Shelton; brother, Glyndon Wheat; father, Nelson Wheat; and mother, Mamie Carpenter Wheat.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Clark of Jasper; sons, Lenwood Shelton (Eloise) of Reform and Joe Norris Shelton (Jewell) of Reform; sisters, Irene Kirk of Reform and Allene Wheat of Coker; brothers, Reedus Wheat, Donald Wheat (Clarine) of Coker and Joe Wheat (Linda) of Rainbow City; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Clark, Kipp Clark, Brandon Clark, Brian Shelton, Eric Shelton, Cole Shelton and Christopher Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Salem Nursing Home and staff and employees Dr. Lee Richardson and Dr. John Brandon.
