Evelyn Ayers Turner, 94, of Beeville, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008. She was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to the late Kay B. Ayers and Julia Cowart Ayers. She was a retired assistant vice president of Mercantile National Bank in Kingsville and a member of B&PW Club, Music Club, and Women's Bankers Association.

Preceded in death by her husband, James E. Turner; three brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. today at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery."

She was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to Kay B. and Julia Cowart Ayers. She graduated from Carrizo Springs High School. She married James E. Turner in San Antonio on Oct. 2, 1943. She resided in Dimmitt County most of her life, moved to Kingsville in 1942 and to Beeville in 1980. She was assistant vice president of Mercantile National Bank in Kingsville until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of B&PW Club, Music Club and Women's Bankers Association, all in Kingsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 9, 2001, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation was held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery."
