Charles was a coal miner who came to America in 1906 from Bukavynka formerly of the Austria Hungarian Empire. That city is now part of the transcarpathian area in the Ukraine. Charles was Rusyn and his brother Frank(who changed his name to Manyak) and brother John Monyak all lived in the Nanty Glo Vintondale area. Charles had 10 children and had been widowed since 1928.
