Duane Allen Newman died of cancer Saturday in his Molalla home. He was 65.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Beavercreek Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Omaha, Neb. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he moved to the Clackamas County area in 1959. A meatcutter, Mr. Newman worked for Danielson's Thriftway stores in Oregon City and Clackamas until his retirement because of disability during the mid-1970s.
After moving to Molalla during the early 1970s, he and his wife, Florence Newman, owned and operated Newman's Bird Farm for about 20 years. Mrs. Newman died in February.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis of Omaha and Mark of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepsons, Thomas E. Lund of Molalla and John E. Lund of Omaha; stepdaughter, Judy E. Sanders of Astoria; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Willamette Falls Hospice in Oregon City.
