"Addison Dimmitt, Sr, 66 years old, president of the Newman Drug Company, died at 6:30 o'clock Friday night at his home, 2840 Lexington Read, after an illness of three weeks.

Besides his connection with the retail drug firm at 572 South Fourth Street, Mr. Dimmitt was a co-partner in the Newman Pharmacal Company, 318 West Main Street, pharmaceutical manufacturing firm. He also was treasurer of the Goodwin Laboratories and a director for the Morris Plan Industrial Bank.

Mr. Dimmitt was born in Maysville, Ky., the son of Dr. Addison Dimmitt and Mrs. Laura Dimmitt. He attended the public schools there and then entered the Louisville College of Pharmacy.

In 1886, having completed his college course, Mr. Dimmitt became associated with the drug firm of George A. Newman, then located at Fifth and Walnut Streets. Four year later Mr. Newman with Mr. Dimmitt and G. A. Wesch incorporated the Newman Drug Company.

At the time of his death Mr. Dimmitt was a member of the Kentucky State Board of Health, a place which he had held for many years. He was a member of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, the Kentucky Pharmaceutical Association, the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the National Association of Retail Druggists.

Mr. Dimmitt was formerly president and later a dirrector of the Louisville College of Pharmacy. He also had been president of the Kentucky Pharmaceutical Association and later of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.

As a member of committees constructing drug legislation, Mr. Dimmitt helped with the construction and passage of the Kentucky narcotic laws and the State pure food and drug actors. He was a past member of the Louisville Board of Trade. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Louisville Lodge of Elks.

In addition to his other duties, Mr. Dimmitt contributed many special articles to national and international pharmaceutical journals. It was said that he was known by druggists all over the United States and Canada.

In 1915 Mr. Dimmitt married Miss Helen Russell Whitman of Louisville. She and a son, Addison Dimmitt, Jr., survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at their residence. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery."
