Rites Are Held
George Abbott of Manchester died Sunday, Nov 21, at the Kenmore Mercy hospital. He was 70 years old, and had been born in Syria. He came to this country when a young man, and has lived here since, for 50 years or more in Manchester. He was employed for 42 years at Lehigh Valley railroad, until he retired about five years ago. He was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox church of Geneva.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; six sons, Dr. Michael and Isaac of Buffalo, John of Rochester, Abraham of Palmyra, Joseph and Samuel of Manchester; one daughter, Mrs. George Baroody of Manchester; one sister, Mrs. John Abraham of Wavland; one brother, Samuel Abbott of Manchester; 20 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 at his home at 11 Smith Place and at 10 at the Manchester Methodist church. Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery in Shortsville.
