Jimmy Jernigan passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. He was retired from the Florida National Guard after 25 years of service. He worked with Gulf Life Insurance for many years before retiring as Sr. V.P. of Marketing "Zone B". He became a homebuilder after retiring from Gulf Life. Jimmy was a Scottish Rite 32 degree Mason. He was also a Deacon of Avalon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Joe Jernigan; parents, Albert and Allie Jernigan; grandparents, James Hiram Jernigan and Nancy A. Smith Jernigan; sister, Peggy Laura York; daughter-in-law, Lora L. Jernigan and granddaughter, Stephanie Sheldon "Shelly" Jernigan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Faye Thompson Jernigan; son, Stephen L. Jernigan; brother, Flournoy Jernigan (Alva); sister, Kathleen Jernigan White and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery in the Masonic section.
Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class from the First Baptist Church in Milton.
