James Gilman
James Gilman, 85, Scarlet Road, Delbarton, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2010, at the ARH in S. Williamson, KY, while surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born Oct. 6, 1924, at Trace Creek, to the late Mosco and Leotia Hunt Gilman. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years Mable Runyon Gilman; four sisters, Edith Weekly, Ida Mae Smith, Garnet Gilman, and infant sister Betty Gilman; two brothers, Alex Gilman and Willie (Bill) Gilman; and two grandsons, Craig and Nathan Dove.
Those He was a faithful servant of God and member of the Bethany Regular Baptist Church since 1964. He was also a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA having worked for more than 33 years.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Garland (Marylin) Gilman and Jimmy (Katie) Gilman both of Scarlet Road, Linda (Bob) Hill of Ashland, Ohio, Joyce Faye (Thomas) Dove of Chattaroy, Nellie (Elijah) Farmer of Scarlet Road; grandchildren, Robert (Jackie) Hill of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Stephanie (Bill) Salyers of Marion, Ohio, Chad Gilman of Scarlet Road, Brian (Melissa) Dove of Chattaroy, Jessica (Paul) Adkins of Scarlet Road, and Aaron (Mekia) Farmer of Lick Creek; brothers, Earnest Gilman of Hell Creek, Mosco (Mandy) Gilman and Dallas Gilman both of Okeechobee, Fla.; sisters, Misha Coleman and Sarah Ann Gilman of Okeechobee; great-grandchildren, Emily Adkins, Seth Dove, Lydia Hill, Aiden Dove, Haley Dove, Ethan Adkins, Conner Salyers; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Bethany Old Regular Baptist Church Wednesday with Elders Bobby Scott, Hobart Hamilton and Albert Cable officiating. Burial will follow in the Estep Cemetery at Scarlet Road, Delbarton. Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9pm with special services starting at 7 p.m.
