Roy Franklin Deem, 59, of Route 2, Waverly, died at the Willow Island Power Plant disaster on April 27. He was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 1085.

Born in Wood County, a son of Mrs. Nora Ellen Joy Deem of Parkersburg and the late Elliott Clifford Deem, he was a World War II veteran. He was employed by B&O Railroad for 21 years before working for United Engineers at Willow Island. He was a member of Middle Ridge Baptist Church.

Other survivors include his wife, Naomi Stephens Deem; three sons, Van F., Seymore A. and Larry A., all of Parkersburg; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Copen and Mrs. Georgia I. Garten, both of Parkersburg, Mrs. Nora J. Savley of Vienna and Tina Ruth Deem at home; two stepsons, Mark E. Deem of Alexandria, Va., and Martin S. Deem of Belpre; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Cathy Hickman of Parkersburg and Mrs. Melanie Houchin of Davisville; three brothers, E.C. of Boaz, Harold of Morgantown and Ray of Route 5, Parkersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rollyson of Dallison and Mrs. Zoa Boston of Washington; and 23 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and four brothers.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Franklin & Son Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Barr officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery.
