Mary Lou Thomas DeBlis, 66, of South Amboy died Thursday July 18, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in South Amboy, she lived there all of her life. She was a lifelong employee of the City of South Amboy, where she was currently Director of Recreation and Senior Outreach Coordinator. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church and was honored as Irish Woman of the year in 2011.
Daughter of the late Joseph J. and Henrietta Thomas, she was also predeceased by her husband, Richard DeBlis in 2005. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Crystal DeBlis of Edmond, Oklahoma and Corey and Cindy DeBlis of Tinton Falls; her brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Kathy Thomas of Howell; her mother-in-law, Kathleen Scherer of Manasquan; and her nieces and nephews, Katie and Colleen Thomas, Conner, Christopher and Catherine Prasad.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 22, 2013 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
