She was the daughter of John Burcar (1873-1948) and Mary nee Mihelchich (1879-1961), who married on January 27, 1897 in Calumet. Both were immigrants from Croatia. In addition to Victoria, the couple's children included: John (c.1901-1950), Theresa (1902-), Carl (1907-1983), Emil (1912-1996), Lawrence (1914-2008), and Georgina (1916-). Victoria's father John died in 1948 and her mother Mary in 1961. Victoria's brother Carl was with her at the Italian Hall when she died; he reported that he saw the man who gave the false alarm. The family moved to Montana soon after.
