Norwood resident and San Miguel County Finance Director Gordon Glockson died of natural causes Monday morning at his home in Norwood. According to a statement from San Miguel County commissioners and staff, the sudden and unexpected passing of Glockson, age 59, has left a void that will be nearly impossible to fill.
A lifelong resident of Norwood, Glockson graduated from Norwood High School in 1966. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, and then returned to Norwood to work for Rooney Chevrolet and Jeep, where he stayed for 11 years. "Glockson began his career with the county in 1981, and for the next 27 years kept one of Colorado's most dynamic counties above the pack and in the black," according to the county's statement.
Glockson is survived by his wife, Janet, his two sons, Michael and Christopher, and many more extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held today, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Norwood High School gym. Graveside services will follow at Norwood Cemetery, with a fellowship dinner at the school cafeteria afterward.
