Dortha L. Bonnell Hodge, 87, of Harrisville, W.Va., died Sept. 13, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 9, 1925 at Berea, W.Va., the daughter of the late Ray and Elsie Maxson Bonnell. She graduated from Pullman High School in 1942. Mrs. Hodge was a retired cook from Harrisville High School and she was an avid quilter, and cooked for many years at Ritchie County 4-H Camps and football camps. She was a member of Highland Community Church.

Dortha is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Harlan Hodge; son, James Robert (Patsy) Hodge of Harrisville; daughters, Doris Jean Messenger of Cairo, Diane Elder of Harrisville, Barbara Ann (Ken) Watts of Parkersburg, Ponda Sue Waggoner of Jacksonville, Fla. and Nannette (Dale) Wyers of Smithville; brother, Orville Bonnell of Pennsboro; sisters, Leona Barazzone of Berea and Willa Dean Spiker of Clarksburg; 28 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Simpson and Arletta Bartlett; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Berea, W.Va. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
