Funeral services are 4 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Avant was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle and Vietnam Veterans of America.
Survivors include: husband Sidney Avant Sr.; 2 daughters Jeannie Avant Hudgins and Joy Avant Parker; son Sidney (Buddy) Avant Jr., all of Batesville; sister Jeanette Jaco Carpenter of Tupelo; brother Doyle Jaco of Clarksdale; 4 grandchildren, Buffy Hudgins, Bubba Avant, Tatum Dillon Chrestman and Nikki Dillon; 3 great-grandchildren Gaige Hudgins, Hunter Carter and Jac Chrestman, all of Batesville.
Preceded in death by parents Cletus and Velma Morrow Jaco; sisters Ruby Tidwell, Erma Jean Jaco Ashmore, Katherine Jaco, Tiny Jaco Lewelling and Jackie Jaco; brothers James Jaco, William Jaco, Bruce Jaco and Terry Jaco and granddaughter Abigail Chrestman.
