Francis and Margarette Cossart, along with many other Dutch families moved in 1764 from Somerset County NJ to this Conewago Valley settlement, which was then in York County, now in Adams county. Their home "Cossart's Dream" built about 1785 is still standing, and still occupied. Descendants of this couple took on many variations of the surname. Their sons, David and Jacob, both started spelling their surname Cassat.

Peter Cossart born NJ 30 Aug 1746 (later killed by Indians in KY)

Christina Cossart born NJ 21 Aug 1755, married Cornelius Clopper
Elizabeth Cossart, born NJ 29 Aug 1758.
