Maurice Francis Crimmins, the son of Daniel Crimmins and Margaret Caldron Crimmins, was born on 29 January 1867 at Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts, and died on 20 November 1947 at Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas. By 1875, he had moved with his parents and siblings to Washington County, Kansas, where the family was engaged in farming. He married Laura Mary Hoover, the daughter of Francis Augustin Hoover and Margaret Ann Marie McCauley Hoover, on 20 January 1892, at the St. Michael's Catholic Church, located at Kimeo, Washington County, Kansas. He continued to farm in the Greenleaf, Kansas area until 1927, when he relocated with his family to Manhattan, Kansas. While there, Maurice owned and operated a dairy farm with his two sons, John and Michael, until shortly before his death.
