She attended Webster Grove College and the Chicago Musical College majoring in music. She later sang in many choirs and was a vocalistfor many occasions throughout the area.
Nida had been co-owner of the John W. Bell Monuments of Cairo with her husband, John W. Bell, Jr. and had been co-owner of Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Villa Ridge for 29 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City. She was also known for her special bread making, and she enjoyed quilting. She was very active in 4-H and served as a 4-H leader for many years.
Survivors include a son, and wife, of Mounds; two daughters, and husbands, of Sutton, Alaska and Dripping Springs, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, of Mounds; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Bell, Jr. on March 27, 1983; a great-grandson, Austin Gabriel Bell on Feb. 26, 2002; and by four brothers and one sister.
Per to Nida's request there will be no public services. A private gathering of family and extended family members will be at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge with a graveside service to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Mounds.
