Mrs. Augusta Lyons Mallon - born in Mobile County on October, 12, 1924, died on August 9, 2013, at a local hospital. She resided on Dauphin Island for most of her life. Gussie was self-employed for numerous years, taught school for 16 years, and was the Postmaster on Dauphin Island for 20 years.
She attended the Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vincent Mallon, and her parents, Augustus Lyons and Ramona C. Lyons.
She is survived by her son, Curtis (Pearl) Mallon, Sr. of Dauphin Island; three grandchildren: Mallory (Leslie) Mallon of Saraland, Vivian Ann (Shane) Stevens of Dauphin Island, and Curtis (Stacy) Mallon, Jr. of Dauphin Island; five great-grandchildren: Britni, Paul, Ben, Nicholas, and Noah; her brother Harvey (Geneva) Lyons of Dauphin Island; and her sister-in-law, Cora Collier of Dauphin Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michael's Catholic Church in Heron Bay on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday, August 12 in St. Michael's Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Dauphin Island Catholic Cemetery.
