who died at his home at Concord, will be
conducted today at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church
at Concord. The Rev. Mr. Henderson, will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Concord.

Jeremiah “Jerry “Brooks, son of the late John Jasper Brooks and Mary (Heatherly) Brooks, passed away at his home in Concord, Knox County, Tennessee on the 28th day of January . He was born March 10, 1858, and was the eldest of 10 children, six brothers and three sisters.

Jerry married Rhoda Estes on July 13, 1879, in Tazewell, Tennessee. They were blessed with six children, two sons and four daughters. Rhoda died sometime around 1895, after the birth of their last daughter, Martha Belle Brooks, who was born in June of 1895.

Jerry was a widower for several years, he married Sallie Asbury Carpenter on August 23, 1904, in Claiborne, Tennessee.

Jerry was a farmer and land owner in Tennessee. He moved to Texas for a time around 1910, rented a farm and was employed as a general farm laborer. Later in Lynn County, Texas he owned a farm, and was still working it in 1920, at the age of 62.

As evidenced by the above news paper biography, he died at home in Concord, Knox, Tennessee.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Brooks; his wife and the mother of his first six children, Rhoda (Estes) Brooks; his brother, James A. Brooks; his sister, Isabelle (Brooks) Turner, and his son-in-law Joseph Cunningham.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sallie (Asbury) Brooks and his children and their spouses: Mary Ann Day; Ollie Josephine and James Social Day; Tillman and Martha Brooks; Priscilla “Siller” and Joseph Whitaker; Curtis and Ella Mae Brooks; Martha Bell and Fred Smith; and he and Sallie’s daughter, Mossie and Taylor Sharp. Survived by his siblings and their spouses: Elizabeth Ann and Francis Day; Victor Stern and Matilda Brooks; John Ladan Brooks; Lyda Calvin and Mary Brooks; Walter R and Priscilla Brooks; Rosa Lee and Alves Obey Turner; Social Josehway and Lizzie Brooks. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive him.
