Passed away on January 30, 2012 in Santa Rosa, CA surrounded by family. Clydine was born on October 16, 1930 in Roswell, NM to Clyde and Gladys "Pat" Mason. She was the oldest of three children. The Mason family moved to Arizona in 1933 and to Modesto, CA in 1940. In 1947 Clydine met the Love-of-her-Life, Lyle Caster, while dragging Modesto's 10th Street (before cruising was cool). They married in 1948 and soon thereafter started a family. In 1961 the Caster family moved to Fort Bragg, CA and raised their three children Richard (Skip), Dennis and Diane. They remained there until 1975 when they moved to Santa Rosa, CA. When Lyle retired in 1989 he and Clydine moved back to Fort Bragg and then returned to Santa Rosa in 1997. Clydine's home and family were the center of her life. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and crafts, making pound puppies and cabbage patch dolls for her grandchildren. In recent years Clydine spent countless hours at the computer researching her families' ancestry. From this research she compiled family history books. Clydine is survived by her sons Skip (Richard) Caster and wife Sandy of Santa Rosa, Dennis and wife Nancy of Willow Creek, CA, daughter Diane Faulk and husband Neil of Santa Rosa. Also survived by brother Jack Mason and wife Karen of Ceres, CA; sister-in-law Vivian Mason of Dayton, NV; grandchildren John Caster, Amy Smart and husband Tommy, Tara Urrizola, Eric Urrizola and wife Erica; great-grandchildren Emma and Mason Caster, Trystan Caster, Jackson Smart, Anthony Urrizola, Drew, Aiden and Tiana Stowe. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Lyle and brother Ron Mason. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers: Nora, Maria 1 and Maria 2. The kindness, love and support they gave to Clydine and our family will always be remembered. A memorial service for Clydine will be held on Friday February 10, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Ave. A reception will follow at Odd Fellows Hall, 545 Pacific Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Clydine's memory be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1110 N Dutton Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401. Arrangements under the care of Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen and Lance Chapel, 545-3747.
