Holdrege -- Aline Thompson, 88, of Holdrege died of Alzheimer's disease Monday, March 27, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
Services will be at 10 am Thursday at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege. The Rev Nita Hays will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Thursday at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm Wednesday at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Mrs Thompson was born Feb 26, 1907 in Palmer to Vern and Ethel Mae (Strausbaugh) Plank. She attended 10 years of school in Wolbach. Her family then moved to Grand Island, where she graduated from high school and attended Grand Island Baptist College.
She married Victor G Thompson of Wolbach on Sept 17, 1928. They lived in Grand Island, Kearney and North Platte. Mr Thompson died in 1964.
Mrs Thompson was primarily a homemaker, but frequently held jobs involving music. She played as a child in a family orchestra with her father, mother, and brother. Later she volunteered as a piano player for service clubs and many entertainment events in Central Nebraska.
She could play any song by ear in any key, even if she only heard it once. She entertained and played for chapel at the Methodist Homes. She was a seamstress, tailor and avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. She had lived at Methodist Memorial Homes in Holdrege since 1977.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Glenn Thompson of Holdrege; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Neal Plank.
