RETIRED MERCHANT DEAD AT 68

Mrs. Kathleen Spencer, 68, of 445 N. Aurora St., died Friday, July 26, 1974, in Tompkins County Hospital. She was the widow of Leon Spencer, Sr. With her husband, she opened the Red & White Grocery Store at 326 W. State St. in 1929; and in 1949 opened the Northside Liquor Store at 433 N. Cayuga St., retiring in 1963. She is survived by three sons, Leon E. Spencer of Ithaca, Dale Spencer and Harold Spencer, both of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Kennedy of Ireland, and Mrs. Christine Alexander of Ithaca; an aunt, Mrs. Jane Worsnop of Yorkshire, England. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Herson Funeral Home, followed by Mass of Resurrection at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Herson Funeral Home. Bearers will be James Spencer, Robert Spencer, Leslie House, Gino Cafcioli, David Bordoni, and Leon Farrel.
