MANTACHIE - Owen G. Pollock, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Countrywood Plantation in Mantachie. He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Concordia, Ky., to the late Thomas Bartlet Pollock and Artie Chappell Pollock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably discharged on Feb. 16, 1946. He served under Gen. George Patton in Company K, 10th Infantry, 5th Division, 3rd Army at Normandy and Northern France. He married Laverne "Tommy" Grimes on Jan. 28, 1946, in Hernando. After her death, he married Lanette Cook Thompson on Nov. 29, 1991, in Saltillo. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mantachie. He was a Mason and a member of Center Star Lodge 322.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Castor Buse and Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Lanette Pollock; two sons, Dr. Kenneth Pollock and Carole, and John Pollock and Cathy; one daughter, Mary Ann Dews and Rick, all of Mantachie; two stepsons, Ricky Thompson of Fulton, and Tony Thompson and Monica of Mantachie; one stepdaughter, Angie Thompson Rayburn and Ricky of Mantachie; one sister, Eva Pollock Smith and Lewis of Waveland, Ind.; six grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren; special caregivers, Rachel Leathers and Carolyn Harlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Tommy Grimes Pollock; a sister, Almyra Jane Chism; and two brothers, Herman Pollock and Ivan Pollock.

Pallbearers will be Brian Pollock, Thomas Pollock, Bartlet Pollock, Eric Nabors, Brad Nolan and Bro. Danny Rushing.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Countrywood Plantation, 145 Watson Drive, Mantachie, MS 38855.
