Thomas "Tom" Parrish departed this world Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends he touched throughout his life. Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Tom was born in 1953 in Fort Worth, the oldest of four children. He graduated from Richland High School and attended Tarrant County College. Tom spent his life as a craftsman and a builder, and was a key part of several landmark projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including the development of Sundance Square, the JFK Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas and the new Cowboy stadium. He loved music, spending time near the water, was rarely without his faithful dog companion by his side and always had a smile on his face. The family would like to thank the office of Dr. John Nugent and Tom's co-workers at GES for the love and support provided throughout Tom's battle with cancer. Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Farley. Survivors: He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his wife of 31 years, Gail; parents, Betty and Jesse Parrish; children, Whitney McKimmey and her husband, Mike, and Scott Sallman and his wife, Catherine; sister, Melinda Wilson and her husband, Mark; brother, Joe Parrish and his wife, Melissa; brother-in-law, Stafford "Ole Lad" Connor; grandchildren, Joey, Alexandra and Emma Sallman, and Connor McKimmey; nieces and nephews, Jessica Poynter and Kari Hoerig, Taylor and Allissa Wilson, Sam, Chase and Will Parrish, and Craig, Chase and Nealee Connor; and his devoted companion, Gus.
