Barbara Tate Sutton, 59, of 3400 Hawthorne Rd., Rocky Mt., N. C., died Saturday, September 24, 1994. Born May 26, 1935, in Pittsylvania Co., Va., she was the daughter of the late Early Green Tate and Annie Dodson Tate.

She was an honor graduate of Dan River High School and Stratford College and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, N.C. She was employed as Secretary to the Finance Officer at the Nash-Rocky Mount Board of Education.

She is survived by her husband, Lambert Morris Sutton, of the home; a son, Stephen Morris Sutton, Richmond, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Lambert Rahn Sutton and Wanda Davis Sutton, Raleigh, N.C.; one granddaughhter, Kyleigh Davis Sutton; also one brother, Roger H. Tate; and one sister, Carolyn Tate Liggon, both of Danville, Va.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, N.C., with Dr. Gaylord L. Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park, N.C. at 3 p.m. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home on Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, N.C.
