Clyde Melick, 96, of the Cedar Falls Western Home, died at Martin Health Center of Western Home Community, Friday, August 30, 2013.

He was born March 17, 1917, in Hazleton, IA, the son of Roy E. and Mary Quinn Melick. He married Evelyn Ione McNelly August 22, 1936 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo. She died February 26, 2010.

Mr. Melick worked as Quality Control Manager at Chamberlain Manufacturing retiring in 1979 after 43 years. He was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church since 1926 where he was a Deacon several times, an usher for many years, and served the Sunday School Council. He and Evelyn volunteered at the Baptist Camp in Ventura for ten years. Clyde was devoted to Evelyn and generous to all.

Clyde is survived by his son, David (Mary) Melick of Waterloo; daughter, Kathy (Patrick) Joyce of Evansdale; 7 grandchildren: David Kugel, Mike (Wynter) Kugel, Steven Kugel, Tim (Danielle) Joyce, Dennis (Juli) Rowell, Ellen (Julie) Manworren, and Roxanne (Robert) Taylor; 10 great-grandchildren, Charmaine (Ryan Gallagher) Taylor, Kiara Kugel, Brittany Kugel, Thomas Kugel, Taylor Kugel, Kelvin Taylor, Logan Taylor, Abe Turner, Peter Goldstein, and Jazmine Peters; and 2 great-great ganddaughters, Miranda Gallagher and Tori Turner; 2 sisters, Evelyn (LaVerne) Johnson of Walla Wall, WA and Lorraine Raine of Waterloo; 3 brothers Eugene Melick of Vallejo, CA, Paul (Irene) Melick of Waterloo, and Gail (Judy) Melick of Burlington, WI.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son Michael Melick, sisters Margaret Sweet, Grace Reeves and Lucinda Padget, brothers Roy, Richard, Harry, and Stewart Melick.
