Frederick is thought to have been born in Bern, Bern, Switzerland in about 1717 and migrated to America at about the age of 20 in 1737.
(In 1849 his grandson Joseph Frederick Parrott gave a history of the family, at a reunion for that year, he stated that Frederick was German in that speech.)

He met and married Barbara Elizabeth Edwards, in Philadelphia, in about 1738. Barbara was thought to have immigrated from England. Records show they moved to, and settled in, Dunmore County, Virginia, later Shenandoah County.

The couple became the parents of 7-sons, who all served as soldiers in the Revolutionary War, and 2-daughters.

Frederick was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, abt 1780 at the approximate age of 58, and his son George, who died while serving as a Revolutionary Soldier after the battle of Germantown in 1777 at the approximate age of 31.

Three of their sons later moved to Ohio, and received bounty land from the government for their service in the war. Two sons stayed in Virginia. The youngest son Frederick, cared for his father until he passed, but moved on to Ohio after that time. The oldest son John Sr. moved his family to the mountains of Green County, North Carolina. (Later to become Cocke County, Tennessee)

Frederick was said to have been buried in the family cemetery on their Virginia farm, near Tom's Brook. The exact location of the cemetery is not known today. Descendants of their sons are known to spell the family name as either Parrett or Parrott.

The grave of one daughter 'Elizabeth' (may have married Henry Shoemaker) has not, yet, been located and linked to her parents graves.

The Descendants of Frederick and Barbara have spread across the American Continent, and have a presence in a number of the United States.
