Bedroom standoff: 107-year-old Monroe Isadore killed by SWAT team in shootout
A 107-year-old Arkansas man who was alone in a bedroom was shot by a S.W.A.T. team when officers could not convince the 107-year-old man to give up his handgun. "On September 7, 2013, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a disturbance at 1411 W. 16th." in Pine Bluff in Arkansas, reported THV11 on Sept. 8, 2013.

On Saturday afternoon, Pine Bluff police received a report that 107-year-old Monroe Isadore was waving a firearm and had threatened two people at his house.

When officers arrived at the residence, 107-year-old Monroe Isadore fired one shot through his bedroom door at the officers but no one was hit.

The police officers retreated and called in backup, including a S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) team. The two people who had complained against the 107-year-old man had been safely guided out of the house.

When 107-year-old Monroe Isadore was unwilling to turn himself in, a small camera was inserted into the bedroom. After having confirmed that the 107-year-old man had a handgun with him and was unwilling to give it up, S.W.A.T. officers inserted gas from outside a bedroom window.

When the gas was inserted into the room, the 107-year-old man fired rounds at the S.W.A.T. officers.

"Shortly afterwards, a S.W.A.T. entry team, inside the residence, breached the door to the bedroom and threw a distraction device into the bedroom. Isadore then began to fire on the entry team and the entry team engaged Isadore, killing him."
