The casket strewn with floral offerings was placed before the pulpit, and after an appropriate selection had been sung by the choir, Dr. W.A. Mallory delivered an eloquent and touching funeral discourse.
After the sermon, the audience was allowed to look for the last time on the cold marble features of the dead, then the casket was conveyed to the hearse in waiting, taken to the beautiful rural cemetery near the church, and there placed in the grave to rest until the Archangel's trump shall rouse the dead to stand before the judgment seat of God.
Mrs. Agee was a lady possessing many rare qualities - qualities which endeared her to all with whom she was brought in contact. She had for many years been a resident of this county, and was closely related to many of the best and oldest families.
She was, at the time of her death, 54 years of age, and for the last four years of life had been afflicted with the dread destroyer - consumption.
She leaves six children to mourn her loss - viz: Mrs. Robert Jess, Mrs. Belle Cass, Miss Emma and Messrs. Edwin and Alva Agee, of Riverton, and Mrs. Greening, Decatur.
