Ashland, Va., February 10. Charles Stebbins, one of Ashland's oldest and most respected citizens, died this morning about 3:30 o'clock at his residence, on Railroad Avenue, in his sixty-fourth year. Mr. Stebbins was born in Richmond, but moved here in 1858, and had been one of the leading merchants for many years. He served as treasurer of the town, and also was a member of the Town Council until bad health compelled him to resign. Mr. Stebbins was a Knight Templar and a member of Ashland Lodge, No. 169, A. F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Rebecca K. MacMurdo, and two sons, Charles Stebbins, Jr., and Harvey (Jack) Stebbins, one sister, Mrs. John D. Owen, of Wakefield, and one brother, Harvey B. Stebbins, of Paces, Va. His funeral will take place from his late residence on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, and the burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. The following will act as pall-bearers: E. W. Woolfolk, J. G. Hughes, Dr. J. W. Jordan, G. F. Delarue, T. P. Scott, W. H. J. Puryear, Charles P. England, T. Harden Johnson.
