Mrs. Rachel Maxine Pharr, 76, wife of First Sergeant Gurney F. Pharr US Army (Ret) of Ware Road entered into rest Tuesday, September 19, 2006 in Eisenhower Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 P. M. from the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Charlie Deloach and Reverend William C. Pharr officiating, interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley S.C. Mrs. Pharr was a native of Iredell County, North Carolina and the daughter of the late Allie Byrd and Eva Bruce Godfrey. She had lived in Augusta since 1963. Mrs. Pharr was a Homemaker, an avid Bowler and member of Bayvale Baptist Church where she was a nursery director for many years. Additional survivors include two sons; Steven Pharr of Jackson , S.C. and Richard 'Rick' Pharr of Augusta, one daughter and son-in-law; Eva and Tony McCarty of Evans, two brothers; John Godfrey of Mooresville, N.C., Wilson Godfrey of Hiddenite, N.C., two sisters, Mary Brady of Roanoke, Va., Dorothy Herb of Hiddenite, N.C., five grandchildren; Leyla Cross and her husband Bill, Charlie Pharr, Eric McCarty, Cody McCarty, Clay McCarty, five great-grandchildren, Justin Kelsey, Andrew Kelsey, Trey Cross, Julianne Cross and Peyton Cross. Pallbearers will be Sid Holland, David Dorn, Fred Reed, Bill Randlett, Shannon Herb, Paul Tice. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bayvale Baptist Church Building Fund 2240 Bayvale Road Augusta, Ga. 30909.
