Frances McClain Burt (95) and Robert (Mac) Burt (53) went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2013 when they were overcome by smoke in an overnight fire. For several years, Mac had devoted himself to caring for his grandmother in their Sandy Springs home, where they enjoyed nightly Brave's games throughout baseball season. Mac was preceded in death by his mother, Robert Anne Burt, of Atlanta. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William T. Burt, Jr., their daughter, Robert Anne, and Frances' brother, Hugh McClain. She is survived by her son, William T. Burt, III. and his wife, Jane; by daughter, Frances (Frannie) McClain Burt Watson and her husband, Doug; by grandson, Christopher Burt and his wife, Pam; Stephen Burt and his wife, Olivia, and their two children; and by grandson, Timothy Burt and his wife, Jackie, and their child, Jacob; W.H. McClain IV son of Frances's brother and his wife Sandie and four children, and by several nieces and nephews. Frances and Mac were longtime members of Riverside Bible Church of Sandy Springs, and later, New Providence Baptist Church of Roswell. Frances was a native of Atlanta, who graduated from Girls High School and was active with the alumni group throughout her life. She had several close girlfriends who enjoyed a game of bridge together for over sixty years. Through most of their lives, Frances and Billy Burt's home was a sanctuary for family and friends who needed a home cooked meal or a place to spend the night and many will remember the laughter and love that emanated to those who visited. The funeral service will be Monday, September 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
