David Myers, age 66, of 1628 Marshall Street, died September 3, 2013, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. His body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets. Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek will officiate. Following the service, Military Honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council will be at the Veterans Monument in Linwood Park Cemetery.

David was born in Boone on July 17, 1947, the son of Donald and K. Bernadette (Pestotnik) Myers. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1965, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Simpson College in 1969. Following college, he served in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Dave worked as a computer programmer for the Corning Corporation in Blacksburg, Virginia, and then for Laboratory Corporation of America in Graham, North Carolina. Dave returned to Boone in 2011.

He enjoyed gardening, home improvement projects, watching sports, and was an avid train enthusiast. In earlier years, he enjoyed attending the activities of his son and daughter. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in North Carolina.

David is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by a son Thomas Myers of Christiansburg, Virginia; a daughter, Susan Myers of Arlington, Virginia; his mother Bernadette Myers of Boone; a brother Steve Myers and wife Becky of Boone; and his former wife, Faye Myers and her daughters Liz Hager and Sally Cooke, all of Blacksburg, Virginia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
